TGN's 20th event, in Raleigh, NC, was nothing short of a blast!
Gamers
were running around with Orange stained lips and teeth from all of the
Halo 3 Game Fuel sent to us from Mountain Dew, it was great!
Kentucky's team 606 had everyone saying "no comment" about anything & everything, it was hilarious.
As
for the event length, having maps forged on every xbox was no help, as
when a gamer would sign in under a newly created profile, the forged
maps would not show up... so, naturally every time the map changes or a
new game began, players would forge a new map, (no comment on the
amount of time wasted in forge). Learning from every event, all
consoles will have 1 profile that cannot be logged out of or have the
name changed, so each console will have a copy of the of the forged map
on hand for every game.
The Players...?
The players
were awesome and polite. We've caught some hard times from serious
gamers about some of the rules and screen's (hey after being hauled
1000's of miles to 20 separate events wear and tear begins to show).
Just how picky can gamers get? For example, one screen we have has a
dot smaller than a BB, and we've seen gamers very upset they had to
play on it, and they have every right considering the $50 per person
fee they paid. In cases like this, we work with gamers to make the TGN
experience the best possible. But the players in Raleigh were just
ready to have fun and hopefully kick some tail! The vibe given by the
crowd was amazing, making into the ranks of the TGN crowds of Houston,
TX and Philadelphia, PA. Raleigh Rocks!
Where did they come from...?
We
had teams from California, Michigan's TGN Raleigh Pro team 5K, TGN
Philly Pros 1st Legacy & Team 606, Other teams from both the
Nashville & Philly took to the road (& Sky) to follow the TGN
to Raleigh as well as players from Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, and
both of the Carolinas.
So who made the cut...?
Team
$5k took 1st and 2nd in the 2v2, 1st place in the 4v4 and one of their
players also took 1st in the FFA, needless to say team 5K took the
majority of the cash given away at the event.
That's not say
they had it easy. Team 3rd degree took 1st in the team seedings (we use
round 1 scores only to seed teams), and proved that they were worthy of
taking the 2nd place spot on Team Raleigh. An Interesting fact I
learned is that 2 players on 3rd degree were actually part of 5K not
long ago, and 5K stated team Carbon informed them of the event (Carbon
took 1st in the TGN Philly Massacre). It's strange how old friends bump
into each other. Also, the games between 3rd degree and 5K were close,
within 5-8 kills.
Straight Beastin claimed the 3rd spot, I C Y U N V us placed 4th.
