Coaching:

At both the Houston and Knoxville Regional Opens, coaching became an issue among players. Some teams such as Xit Woundz had a 5th person just for coaching, later on, players who had been eliminated felt obligated to step up and help coach teams who had none. This caused the teams with no coach to complain "Spotters," (or Coaches), shouldn't be allowed...

The TGN believes that coaching shouldn't be allowed, because we want the teams with the highest skill to win and having a 5th person look over all screens and call out enemy positions just doesnt seem right. However, a new aspect of Halo 3 incorporates a 5th person who oversees the given map and controls weapons spawns for team mates (could actually be cool). So here is the final word on coaching:

Coaches will be allowed, but coaches must pay $25 for "Coach Admission." and can only coach the team entered with. 

Now for Hosting...

The upcoming Atlanta Tournament will mark our 17th event (and what a crazy ride its been). As unlikely as it may seem, when we began in December of 2005 we did not know of the MLG. All of our rules we taken from player interviews and the old VGL website. Because being host in game offers an advantage, we feel like the lower seeded team should host, and boy have we caught wind over our rules! Gamers are always fussing "whats the point of doing well in the Free-for-all if lower seeded teams host," and as we always say, "to get easy games in the early rounds." For the very 1st time in TGN History, the Higher seeded team will obtain Host!
